“Hmm… If there’s delicious curry rice, that’s fine. Spread the magic circle out. I’ll use it as a landmark.”
‘Are you sane?’
‘Rita-chan, you should reconsider. That’s a no-good person!’
‘That’s rude!’
I do think that’s a little rude, but the fact that more people are worried about me probably means I’m the one whose sense is off. I should probably fix that bit by bit.
But there’s no need to worry.
“Guns, was it? Even if I get shot or cut with a sword or stabbed, it’s not a problem, so it’s fine. I have a barrier up.”
‘Ah, yes’
‘Rita-chan is too strong…’
‘Easy to forget with how cute she looks, but this kid, according to the Great Spirit, is one of the world’s strongest…’
‘Worrying is a waste, then’
I don’t know how it actually is, but I don’t think I’d lose to a civilian in a sneak attack, at least.
Yeah. Looks like the person on Kokoro-zakura Island spread out the magic circle. All right, let’s go.
“I’m going, then. By the way, anyone other than me will get something called a mosaic, so just so you know.”
‘Privacy matters, after all’
‘Learn from this, mass media’
‘Don’t start a topic that’ll blow up’
All right, let’s go.
“Telepooort.”
‘Don’t chant it like you’ve got no energy lmao’
I don’t know what you mean.
And so, I have arrived at Kokoro-zakura Island. Specifically, the air above it. A small island is visible below. There seems to be a modest town, but the island itself might be smaller than the Spirit Forest.
No, comparing it to the vast Spirit Forest is the weird part. According to Master, the forest is about the size of Shikoku. I don’t really know that Shikoku, though.
The reaction from my magic circle is probably coming from a building called an apartment. Ten stories, and apparently it’s in a room on the fifth floor. I’ll go up to the balcony of the room with the magic circle.
Before that, I give the blackboard where comments flow a light tap. The blackboard slips away and vanishes, and the comments start coming in through my ears. A little noisy, but leaving it out when I’m meeting people would get in the way.
“Big house. Are all Japanese houses like this?”
‘No’
‘For an apartment, maybe mid-tier? The big ones are way bigger’
‘There are thirty-story ones!’
“Huh… You people are into weird stuff.”
‘Harsh lol’
I mean, I wonder what you’d even do living that high up. Just getting down to the first floor sounds like a pain.
While we were talking about that, the balcony window was thrown open hard.
“Wah…”
I couldn’t help the sound leaking out.
The one who opened the window was a little girl. Maybe about five. She looked at me and tilted her head, blank.
‘A little girl!’
‘With the mosaic I can only tell it’s a small child, but probably a little girl!’
‘Don’t tell me this kid is the viewer!?’
‘No, that’s my little sister. Wait a bit’
‘For some reason I feel weirdly relieved lol’
‘Can’t say I don’t get it lol’
A little sister, huh. What should I do. Has she heard about me.
I try coming down onto the balcony. It’s a small balcony, with a few small potted plants. Some kind of sprouts coming up.
The girl stared at me, then took a step back, and—
“Onee-chaaaan! Magical girl! It’s a magical girl!”
She shouted that and ran into the room.
“A magical girl, she says.”
‘Magical girl… girl?’
‘Rita-chan does look like a girl, yeah. So, actual age?’
“Who knows?”
It’s not that I’m invoking some so-called right to remain silent. I simply don’t remember. When I’m researching I get absorbed in it. There’s no day or night in the subspace, so that makes it even worse.
But I’m not a little girl, I think. Yeah.
“Rita-chan, you can come in!”
A voice from inside the room. A woman’s voice.
‘Wait’
‘Eh, is it a woman?’
‘No way!?’
I do think that’s rude, but I thought it was a man too.
If I remember right, in Japan you take your shoes off. I take off my boots and go inside.
Inside is a living room. Beige carpet, a table in the middle. Three floor cushions by the table. Along the wall, a television, I think? And a few shelves.
There’s a door on the opposite side from the window, and a girl standing there. Age, maybe fifteen or so. A girl with black hair in a ponytail. Hoodie and jeans.
The little girl from before is clinging to that girl’s leg. Short black hair, and her round eyes are cute.
“Onee-chan! Look! Magical girl!”
“Yeah. It’s a witch. Her name is Rita-chan. Come on, say hello.”
“Okay!”
She let go of the girl’s leg and thrust her right hand up with all her might.
“I’m Nakayama Chiho!”
I see.
“Cute.”
‘Cute.’
‘Cute.’
It’s my first time seeing a little kid, but I see, this is cute. Makes you want to protect her.
“I’m Rita. A witch. Nice to meet you. Chiho-chan.”
“My friends call me Chii-chan!”
“Chii-chan, then. Got it.”
A nickname, I guess. I might be a little jealous.
I pat Chii-chan’s head, and then the other one introduces herself.
“I’m Nakayama Mami. Nice to meet you, Rita-chan.”
“Mm. You’re the one who sent the comments?”
“That’s right.”
‘What… did you say…?’
‘I can tell from the voice. Definitely a pretty girl’
‘Voice sommelier, thank y— wait, that’s creepy’
‘Harsh lmao’
