“More importantly, souvenirs.”

What I took out of the vinyl bag was two curry buns, one pack of four mitarashi dango, and two of Mami’s homemade onigiri. She’d arranged it so the Great Spirit and I could split it evenly.

“Here, Spirit-sama.”
“Yes. Thank you.”

I hand the Great Spirit a curry bun and an onigiri. All right, let’s eat right away.
I tear the curry bun bag… This bag is amazing too. Isn’t Japan too amazing?
Pakuri, a bite. Hmm…

“There’s no curry…”

‘Ahh… lol’
‘Rita-chan, with store-bought curry buns the filling is sometimes bunched to one side. If you keep eating it’ll come out’

“Huh.”

If I keep munching along, the curry comes out right away. It’s not the gloopy stuff that sits on curry rice, but this is definitely curry. A little on the sweet side, but spicy, and it goes well with the bread. Delicious.

“Whoever thought of putting curry in bread is a genius, I think.”

‘I get it’
‘Noticing that, as expected of Rita-chan’
‘Anpan with anko in the bread is good too’
‘Especially chunky-anko anpan’
‘No, smooth anko is better’
‘Hah?’
‘Ah?’

The atmosphere is getting kind of hostile, but I’ll ignore it. It’s like the fights that sometimes start when the talk turns to Japanese sweets. They’ll end on their own before long.
Ignoring the comments, which have increased in volume, I look at the Great Spirit, and she was eating like it was delicious.

“When it comes to food, they really are ahead over there. I’d like this world to try a little harder too.”
“I’ve only ever eaten what Master made, so I wouldn’t know.”
“Ah…”

‘The streams are always in the forest too’
‘Bluntly, if magic and magic beasts don’t show up it doesn’t feel like an isekai’
‘I want to see an isekai townscape’

I’ve heard from Master what kinds of towns there are, but I only know it secondhand too. The first time I went to a town where people live was this time in Japan… wait.

“Huh? I’ve only been to Mami’s house…?”

‘You’ve noticed’
‘You were satisfied with that kid’s curry lol’
‘Well either way, Kokoro-zakura Island is still an island with a future. If you’re going, I want you to go somewhere more urban’
‘Tokyo!’
‘Tokyo is too high difficulty for a sudden trip lol’

Tokyo. Japan’s capital, right. Maybe I’ll try going there next.

“Um, Rita.”
“Mm?”
“May I… have that as well…?”

Before I knew it the Great Spirit had finished her curry bun. I’m still going, but… well, opening it is fine.
I open the pack of mitarashi dango and hold it out to the Great Spirit. The Great Spirit starts eating happily.
One way or another, the Great Spirit loves Japanese sweets and such too. Definitely Master’s influence, I think.
I’ll eat the onigiri first. Onigiri wrapped in something called nori.

“Hmm… The salt is good. What’s inside, fish? Delicious.”

‘Show us show us’
‘What’d she put in it’
‘Hey!? This is embarrassing though!’
‘The person herself has descended’

“Ah, Mami. They’re all delicious. Thank you.”

‘Ah, yeah. I’m glad you liked them. By the way the onigiri is salmon’
‘Too ordinary to be interesting’
‘Boring’
‘You people lmao’

Salmon is the standard, then. We have rice here too, but again it’s only what Master grew personally. The Great Spirit took a liking to rice and has been secretly continuing to grow it, but…

“Compared to the rice in this onigiri, my rice is honestly a little so-so…”
“Mm. Well, it can’t be helped.”

Over there they’ve spent years on something called selective breeding, after all. Master even gave up on rice, saying it wasn’t something you could do overnight.

“Hmm…”
“Rita, is something the matter?”
“I just keep remembering Master.”
“…………”

‘Rita-chan…’
‘Went out of contact and that was it, after all…’
‘That idiot, where is he and what is he even doing’

Ah, the mood’s gotten kind of gloomy. The Great Spirit looks a little sad too, if I’m not imagining it. Honestly, I’m not that bothered. Knowing Master, he’ll pop his face in before long.

“Knowing Master, I think he’s just working hard trying to find delicious food and recreate it.”

‘Possible lmao’
‘That one’s obsession with food and cooking is no joke lol’
‘Looking forward to him coming back’

Yeah. I’m sure I’ll get to hear a good souvenir story.
While I was saying that, the Great Spirit had an indescribable expression, but I decided I hadn’t noticed. Because I didn’t want to ask.
