A week since I first went to Earth. Since then, once a day, I’ve been visiting Earth—or rather, Mami’s house. The goal isn’t delicious food. I mean, that’s part of it.
“Hmm… Can you feel it?”
“It’s a little warm?”
“That’s good.”
I’m holding both of Chii-chan’s hands, training her to sense mana.
Mami apparently talked to their mom, and we got permission, more or less. More or less meaning she’s half in doubt, or rather, she seems to think it’s that kind of play.
According to Mami, if you suddenly get told it’s magic, that’s the reaction you get.
Even so, permission is permission. So since then, I’ve been teaching Chii-chan a little at a time.
Well, teaching, but it’s only the training to sense mana.
To use magic, the skill of handling mana is required. And to handle it, you have to become able to sense what mana is like.
In other words, what Chii-chan is doing is the very first training for using magic.
And this training is said to be the first, and the greatest, hurdle. According to the Great Spirit, even among people in our world, only one in ten can sense mana.
‘But one in ten feels like quite a lot’
‘No no. That’s just being able to sense it is one in ten, right. Once it comes to actually using magic, it gets even fewer, doesn’t it?’
‘I see, understood’
Well, that’s how it is, apparently. Being able to use convenient daily-life magic is about one in two of those, and once it becomes practical combat magic it’s another one in ten or so.
So well, we’ve been doing mana-sensing training for a week, but it’s not that Chii-chan is especially slow or has no talent. Apparently some people take over a year.
By the way, there was a lot of interest in this training and a lot of requests, so I have been streaming it, but I don’t think people in this world could do this training alone. Unless there’s someone else who can handle mana.
“By the way, Rita-chan.”
“Mm?”
“Didn’t you say you were going out today?”
Right. I’ve been hanging around Mami’s house all the time, so I’m thinking I should go see somewhere else soon. Mami laughs and says I don’t have to worry about it, but always imposing and causing trouble is no good, I think.
“Mm. I’m going to take a look at the capi—? Tokyo, was it.”
“Eh.”
‘toukyou? Tokyo!?’
‘For real!? Too sudden!?’
‘If it’s Tokyo I can show you around!’
Comments like that flow across the black board. Mami glances at them, then puts both hands on my shoulders.
“Rita-chan. Absolutely do not go with any men.”
“Mm…? Um… Why?”
“A man who talks to a girl on her own is never a decent person!”
‘Harsh!’
‘Prejudice, this is! Prejudice!’
‘But I think that advice is correct’
I think I’m not wrong for wanting to say, which is it.
Hmph. Men are no good, then.
“Then women are fine?”
“Those neither!”
“Eeh…”
‘lol’
‘Well of course Rita-chan is confused lol’
‘Conclusion: don’t go with anyone, huh’
‘But that might be pretty much right. There are more weird people too’
What? Is Tokyo some kind of demon realm? It sounds like a really dangerous place.
But the other party is only human in the end. I can’t see needing to be that wary.
“I can protect myself, so it’s fine.”
“That’s… true, maybe, but…”
“Mm. But thank you for worrying. I’m happy.”
“Rita-chan…!”
‘Is this that wholesome thing?’
‘Unclear’
‘One way or another these two have gotten close, huh’
Mami’s personality isn’t that similar to mine, but talking with her is somehow fun. I can talk very easily. I don’t know how Mami thinks of it, but I think of her as a friend.
“Chii-chan. That’s it for today, so keep up the training, okay.”
“Okaaay.”
Chii-chan stares at both hands and groans, umumu. The sight is so cute I can’t help my face softening.
Was Master like this too?
“Well then, I should go.”
“Yeah. Be careful.”
I nod, mm, and dismiss the comment board. The stream… well, I can keep it going.
I wave to Mami and Chii-chan, and teleport to the place I’d decided in advance.
