My head is working, even though I should be dead.
I open my eyes.
Pitch-black space.
I killed a lot of people, so maybe I’m going to hell.
And at the end I killed the Cat God too.
Then I can’t go to heaven with Kumayuru and Kumakyuu.
Dad was an ally of justice, so I think he’s in heaven, so I can’t see him.
Kind Mom is in heaven too.
I’m going to hell alone.
Hell, huh. I don’t like pain.
But I killed people, and at the end I even killed a god, so hell is a sure thing.
I don’t know what happened to the Cat God in that explosion. But the fact is I attacked a god.
I wait, thinking I’m going to hell, but it stays a dark space the whole time.
Don’t tell me I’m supposed to live in this darkness?
That would be agony too.
While I think that, it starts to shine in front of me.
In the darkness the light is so bright I can’t open my eyes.

“Yuna.”

A voice I know well.
When I open my eyes, Dad is there.

“Yuna, I’m sorry. Dad—”
“D-Dad!”

I cling to Dad.
I don’t know why.
But Dad is in front of me.
While I cling to Dad, he gently strokes my head.

“I’m sorry.”
“No. I did it on my own.”

Dad gently strokes my head.
I don’t know why Dad is here.
It might be a dream.
But I’m glad I could see him.

“Yuna.”

I look toward the voice, and Mom, who died when I was little, is there.

“Mom?”

Mom gently hugs me.
It might be a dream.
That’s all right.
I’m glad I could see her.

“Does this mean we can be together?”

Can we go to heaven together?
But at my words, Dad and Mom both make troubled faces.

“I’m sorry.”
“We can’t go together.”

The two of them apologize as if it’s their fault.
That’s right.
I killed a lot of people.
Dad and Mom are in heaven.
But I, who killed a lot of people, am bound for hell.
We can’t go to the same place.
But I’m grateful to God for letting me see Dad and Mom at the end.
…I don’t want to thank that Cat God, though.
But I’m glad to know Dad and Mom are in heaven.

“I’m sorry I caused you trouble. But I’m glad I could see you at the end. I was happy. I’m glad Dad is with Mom.”

If the two of them are happy in heaven, I’m glad.

“Yuna, I’m sorry.”
“Yuna, I’m sorry.”
“No, don’t apologize. If you two are happy, I’m glad.”

But I’m not there.
I wanted to be together.
But that won’t come true.
My hands are stained with blood.
I killed a lot of people.

“Kumayuru and Kumakyuu are probably over there too, so if you see them, please. Kumayuru and Kumakyuu are my important family, and…”

They died for me.
They’re surely in heaven.

“So…”

The tears won’t stop.
Mom and Dad hug me.

“Those children are here.”

When Mom pulls away, Kumayuru and Kumakyuu are beside me.
I could see them at the end.
The family that protected me to the last.
They died because of me.

“I’m sorry.”
“Kuuun.”

Kumayuru and Kumakyuu press against me.

“I can’t go with you, so please look after Dad and Mom.”
“Kuuun.”
“I’m glad I could see you at the end.”
“Kuuun.”

I don’t want to leave them, but I part from Kumayuru and Kumakyuu.
Then I talked a lot with Dad, Mom, Kumayuru, and Kumakyuu.

“Is Dad’s body all right?”

I died too, and Dad’s body is frozen in the room.

“It’s all right. A colleague who came looking for Dad came to the house. The problem is that Yuna disappeared. You weren’t going to school, and you’d gone missing, hadn’t you. It’s become a fuss.”

My body was lost in the explosion.
There might be my corpse left, smashed to pieces, though.
My own body in pieces.
I don’t like that either.

“I feel bad for the police, but if Dad and Mom aren’t there, I don’t care.”

It’s a selfish thought, but as a kid I don’t care.
And more than anything, I died, so it doesn’t matter.

“Yuna, it’s almost time to say goodbye.”

Everyone goes to heaven, I go to hell. The destinations are different.
But at the end I could see everyone, and say goodbye.
There’s nothing left I regret.
Even though I think that, Kumayuru and Kumakyuu won’t leave me.

“Kumayuru, Kumakyuu, get off.”

I can’t take them to hell with me.
I want Kumayuru and Kumakyuu to be happy in heaven too.

“Yuna, we can’t be together, but be happy.”
“Yuna, I’m sorry we can’t be together.”

Dad and Mom hug me at the end.
It’s sad, but it can’t be helped.
But I wonder if I can be happy in hell.
While I think that, a square white space appears. It looks like a white door.
The path to heaven?
The path everyone takes.
A bright, pretty path.
I can’t take it.

“Yuna, go.”

Dad says it while looking at the white space.

“This door is everyone’s—”
“Be happy in a new world.”
“What do you mean?”
“A new world is waiting for you.”
“Wait, what’s a new world? Then everyone come too.”
“We can’t go.”
“But these children can go with you.”

Kumayuru and Kumakyuu stand beside me.

“Go.”
“I was glad I could see you grown.”
“Mom, Dad.”
“Kumayuru, Kumakyuu, please look after Yuna.”
“Kuuun.”

I’m pushed into the door of light, as if Kumayuru and Kumakyuu are shoving me.

“Dad! Mom!”

The two of them hold each other’s shoulders and wave to me.

“Dad, Mom! Kumayuru, Kumakyuu, wait—”

I was sucked into the light.
