“Mm. The name is Kouta. I don’t know the kanji or the family name. The time he died is between when the plan for Kokoro-zakura Island was announced and when development started. About that much.”
“I see. Understood, I’ll have them look into it.”
“Please.”

I don’t know how far they can look, but they should be able to look further than I can.
Now then. For me, this is more the main topic, maybe.

“So, Hashimoto, what do you want from me?”

I don’t think they’d do it for free. I’ve heard Japan has a huge population, and I understand searching from that is a really hard job.
So considering the price, even if there’s some unreasonable demand…

“Let’s see. Nothing in particular, I suppose.”
“Eh.”

Ah, huh? Nothing? I thought I’d be told to teach magic, or hand over convenient tools, or something.
Maybe my confusion got through; Hashimoto laughs and shakes his head.

“I love fantasy too. That said, being taught magic would be far too big a risk. There might even be a war over that knowledge.”
“O-ohh…”

‘That’s overblown’
‘No, it’s not that off, is it’
‘Huh? Then, um, is Chii-chan bad…?’
‘That kid has only been taught fun magic so I want to believe she’s barely safe’

Teaching Chii-chan was too thoughtless, maybe. I’ll think of something on my end about her.
Even so.

“Is it really okay? Doing nothing?”
“Ah. Of course. If I had to say, I’d like you to keep streaming. And I hope we can have talks like this now and then.”
“Mm. Well, if it’s that much.”

If I get food like today, I have no problem either. I don’t want to do it too often, though.
After that there really aren’t any more requests, I’m only asked a little about my impressions of Japan so far, and we break up. They offer to send me to a specified place, but I refuse. It’s a pain.

“And so, Mami. I got it.”
“Y-yeah…”

On the way home I got something really good. The sushi souvenir too, but more than that.
A phone! A smartphone! Amazing!
I hold up the smartphone to Mami, who has a strangely kind smile, and Chii-chan with sparkling eyes, and I say:

“Ta-daa.”
“What are you saying, Rita-chan?”

‘Ta-daa lmao’
‘What sound effect is that lol’
‘And Chii-chan is copying, holding up chopsticks lol’
‘Ahhh Rita-chan and Chii-chan are both so cuteeee!’
‘This is bad, a deranged soldier! Medic! Medic!’
‘You’re the medic!’

Some sketch is starting in the comments, but I’ll ignore it.
A smartphone. Amazing, right. With just this you can talk with people far away. Is science more amazing than magic?

“Science is amazing.”
“Yeah. Rita-chan. Can’t you do it with magic? Like, telepathy, or something?”
“There is, but you can’t use it if you don’t know the other person. Talking with someone whose face you don’t know using just numbers is impossible. And this, delivery…? I heard you can order food too. Amazing. Great.”
“I get that Rita-chan is super excited.”

‘Super excited, huh’
‘It’s a little heartwarming to watch’
‘Like a kid given a toy lol’

Being treated like a kid is a little embarrassing. I mean, but, it’s… amazing!

“The immediate problem is I can’t use it on the isekai side.”
“Well, obviously?”
“So I’ll try making magic that can make calls.”
“What are you saying?”

‘Is a smartphone finally going to cross galaxies’
‘A technological revolution!’
‘It’s not a technological revolution, and even if you can call you can’t order delivery’

Just calls would be enough. Being able to talk with Mami and Chii-chan even after I go home sounds like a dream. Yeah. I’ll work hard on research after all.

“Now then. About tomorrow’s plans.”

‘Uwah she suddenly calmed down!’
‘A nostalgic bit…’
‘Next is somewhere different from Tokyo?’
‘How about Osaka? Takoyaki is easy and delicious’

I haven’t said anything yet, so stop tempting me.
Honestly I was a little torn. Going around all kinds of places in Japan like this wouldn’t be bad, but there are also people who want to see an isekai town…
And I caused Mireille trouble, so I have to go apologize.

“Tomorrow I’ll go see Mireille a bit.”
“Ah. So you’re going to that town.”
“Mm.”

‘Come to think of it she sent her to town by teleport and left it at that lol’
‘Originally it was a request for Rita-chan lol’
‘I wonder what Mireille is telling the guildmaster’

Stop. It makes my stomach hurt.
No really, I think I did something pretty awful. Thinking it over, that was bad. I have to apologize properly.

“Will I get scolded…? Really scolded?”
“I-I wonder…?”

‘Scaredy Rita-chan’
‘That’s too scared no matter how you look at it lol’
‘They know some of the circumstances over there, so it should be fine’

I hope so… If I got scolded unreasonably I could get angry too, but I’m the one who abandoned the request. The guildmaster might be exasperated too.

“Ahh…”
“If you hate it that much, um… You could go to a different town…?”
“No. That’s just running from something I don’t like. I’ll say sorry properly.”
“Fufu. I see.”
“Mm.”

‘Rita-chan is a good kid’
‘So good…’
‘Note that actual age is unknown’
‘Stop that’

No, yeah. That’s exactly why. Yeah.
Anyway, I should go home soon…

“Ah, Rita-chan.”
“Mm?”
“It’s night anyway, how about a night view?”
“Ah.”

That’s right! Japan’s night sparkles and is pretty. I really want to see it.
Led by Mami, to the balcony I came in through the first time. We go out on the balcony and look at the scenery outside.

“Ohh…”

Lots of lights from houses. I see, this is pretty…

“Tokyo and such would be even more amazing, though.”
“Mm… All right, let’s go.”
“Eh.”

I take Mami’s hand and teleport. The destination is a Tokyo building. The top of some Tree. It’s pretty easy to tell, so it was just right for teleporting.

“W-wawa…!?”

Maybe because of the sudden teleport, Mami is shocked. She glances around, checks her feet, lets out a short scream, and clings to me.

“Ri-ri-ri-rita-chan where is this this this!?”

‘high high high high’
‘Me with acrophobia, deceased’
‘Good for you, heaven is close. Pass on’
‘Help her lol’

Mm. Sudden teleport was no good. I should have at least told her where we were going.
I put magic on Mami, and…

“This makes it fine. Even if you fall, you’ll float.”
“R-really?”
“Mm.”

When I nod firmly, she seems convinced and lets go of me. Even so she seems bad with heights; she still holds my hand. I don’t mind.

“Waaah… Amazing. A superb view.”
“Mm. It really is amazing.”

You can’t see the stars in the sky, but instead there are lots of stars on the ground. Countless of them. Thinking humans lit all of these, I think science is much more amazing than magic.
Magic can only be used by the caster. There are things like magic tools, but they still fall short of magic, and the numbers are limited.
But science is different. If you just know the minimum of how to use it, this many people can use it. That’s amazing.
Personal magic, collective science, that kind of thing, maybe.

“Rita-chan, thank you for bringing me. This is a place you normally can’t get into, so I’m really moved.”
“Even though you were scared?”
“Don’t say that. I’m still scared now, if we’re talking scared.”

I figured. She absolutely won’t let go of my hand. I don’t mind.

‘Is this that wholesome thing?’
‘Wholesome’
‘I don’t think you should tie everything to that’
‘These two are just friends, right’
‘Too bad’

What’s too bad.

When we go back to Mami’s house satisfied with the night view, Chii-chan, left behind alone, is puffing her cheeks and sulking.
No, yeah. Sorry. Really sorry. Next time Chii-chan can come too…
